Local group Saskatoon Cycles claims that shifting from a car to bicycle for short trips can increase your lifespan by up to 14 months.
Recently, the City of Saskatoon has made some effort to accommodate cyclists, with shared traffic lanes, new routes and maps and a handful of exclusive traffic lanes. But Shaw says there are still sections of the city where it is dangerous to share the road with a vehicle.

In the wake of a scathing editorial in one of the world’s leading science journals, Canadian handling of research misconduct has been called into question.
The journal Nature criticized the Natural Sciences and Energy Research Council of Canada for refusing to publicly identify researchers found guilty of misconduct in its Sept. 28 issue. James Turk of the Canadian Association of University Teachers says his organization agrees with Nature and advocates a change.

Post-apocalyptic games seem to have reached their peak in popularity recently with games such as Fallout 3 and Borderlands. Now another post-apocalyptic shooter, Rage, enters the arena desperately trying to differentiate itself from the rest. How does it do that? Well, by doing almost nothing new at all.
Rage is the newest shooter from veteran developer id Software, known for classic games like Doom and Quake.

As the temperature starts to fall, we find ourselves in that elusive season crammed right in between summer and winter: autumn. It’s easy to forget about this relatively short season but it is chock-full with some of the best the year has to offer. With fall comes fall-themed treats, the soundtrack of crunching leaves and, of course, the return of fall fashion.

Years after receiving funding from KidSport, Rylund Hunter is giving back to the charity.
The fourth-year Huskies linebacker is the president of the Huskie Athletics Council and has spearheaded a fundraising effort to raise money for KidSport Saskatoon.

Kirk Hall was filled to the brim on Oct. 7 with both students and professionals for a lecture regarding water policy reform.
The speaker was Rob Sandford, a member of the expert Forum for Leadership on Water, or FLOW. His address focused on the implications of climate change and its economic cost in relation to Canadian water resources.

Rory Kohlert is hoping the third time’s a charm when he tries to crack a CFL roster once again next season.
The 6-1, 203-pound receiver for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL this past March but was released in July prior to the 2011 season start. The year before that, he fractured his fibula at a CFL evaluation camp.
