After voting “no” on the creation of the centre at the March 24 meeting of University Students’ Council, Richardson sent an email to council retracting his position.
“Shortly after the vote was finished, where I voted no, I quickly felt I had made the wrong choice. It became abundantly clear to me that I personally had made the wrong choice,” he said in an email to the USC members.
At the the March 24 meeting, Richardson had been ambivalent about his stance. That changed after the meeting.
“The practicalities which swayed me to the no vote now, seem small in comparison to the benefits that this centre could offer,” he clarified in the email, requesting that the Social Justice Centre be added to the council agenda before the end of term.
University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union president Chris Stoicheff agreed to add the centre to this week’s agenda.
