    For their final two games of the season the Huskies women’s volleyball team will take on the Mount Royal University Cougars. Currently in eighth spot in the Canada West division the Dogs have a slight chance to advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2001-02.

    The Huskies women’s basketball team and the University of Calgary Dinos battled through two five-set matches on Jan. 24 and 25 in Calgary, Alta. The Dinos snuck out the first match but the Dogs came back to win the second night.

    After picking up two important wins over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, the Huskies women’s volleyball team remains in the playoff hunt. The Dogs topped the Wesmen on Jan. 10 and 11 to improve to 7-7 on the season. The wins helped move the Dogs into sixth place in the Canada West Division ­— high enough to qualify for the postseason.

    The Huskies women’s volleyball team will look to rebound after a disappointing meeting against the University of Manitoba Bisons. The Dogs dropped both matches in straight sets on Nov. 8 and 9 in Winnipeg and are now 2-4 on the season.
