University of Saskatchewan President Ilene Busch-Vishniac confirmed ground will break on the Gordon Oakes-Red Bear Student Centre once spring arrives, despite the first round of construction bids for the $15-million project coming in over budget.

Aboriginal students are one of Saskatchewan’s largest untapped economic assets, according to a new study done for the Gabriel Dumont Institute.
The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada’s website claims that only eight per cent of aboriginal people in Canada between ages 25 and 64 have university degrees, while 23 per cent of non-aboriginal people in that same age group have university degrees.

Student government is a sphere in which future leaders hone their critical and rhetorical skills, and everyone is permitted the odd lapse in judgement. The tenor of the debate at the AGM, however, exceeded the bounds of reasonable debate. People went from disagreeing to being disagreeable, and perfectly illustrated that in student politics, the smaller the stakes are, the greater the noise.
