Both U of S Huskies soccer teams had their ups and downs during last weekends opening season games, but in the end came out looking strong for the upcoming year.

Brothers Zach and Dylan Hart played for opposing teams during the Huskies v. Rams football game at Griffiths Stadium on Sept. 9. While the Huskies defeated the Rams, watching Dylan leave the game on a stretcher wasn’t what Zach wanted to see.

U of S President MacKinnon had three major initiatives when he took office 12 years ago ”” to reopen the College Building, to build more residences and to build a new hockey arena. The College building was reopened in 2005 and the first of two new residences just opened this summer, but campus has yet to start construction on a new rink.
Fortunately, an arena with two ice surfaces is part of the university’s College Quarter master plan and has become a top priority for the president’s office.
