The USSU and the Office of Sustainability will host the annual Hike, Bike and Roll on Sept. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between the Arts and Thorvaldson buildings.

The thirst for beer will compete with the thirst for knowledge as the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union gets set to host its two-day Welcome Week afternoon party in the Bowl. Starting at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 and 7, the event is set to include live music, information tables, giveaways and beer gardens.

The University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union is one step closer to finding a new tenant for the empty bay in lower Place Riel that was formerly Campus Cove. The Campus Cove was the university’s arcade and games room for over 20 years. Prior to 2010 and its move to lower Place Riel, the Cove was located where the International Student and Study Abroad Centre is currently located.

A protein found in semen has been shown to cause the female brain to trigger ovulation.
An international team of scientists led by University of Saskatchewan veterinary biomedical sciences professor Gregg Adams made the discovery and published their findings Aug. 20 in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

For 14 days in late July and early August, two University of Saskatchewan students travelled the 1,772-kilometre route of Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway pipeline. During this time they took photos, captured video and documented the personal stories of residents of the communities along the pipeline’s projected path.

A woman was sexually assaulted by a male in a campus parking lot early in the afternoon on May 23. According to an email recently sent to all University students and faculty, the suspect approached the woman at around 1:00 p.m. and convinced her to join him in a parking lot just off of Seminary Crescent, where the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and then fled on foot.
The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.

Professors at the University of Saskatchewan disagree with a recent Statistics Canada report that claims they are paid more than the national average.
The report, released in early May, compared the average salaries of university professors in Canada over the 2010-11 academic year. The U of S Faculty Association claims, however, that Statistics Canada overestimated its calculations of the U of S salaries.
