After a long wait, the iPhone 4 is finally coming to SaskTel.
The Crown corporation announced today that it will start offering the popular Apple phone on April 26.
“After overwhelming demand, SaskTel is extremely pleased to bring iPhone 4 to our customers in Saskatchewan,” said Bill Boyd, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a news release. “SaskTel remains committed to offering the best network and we’re sure our customers will love using the innovative iPhone 4 on SaskTel’s leading network.”
SaskTel customers have been anticipating this announcement since the company upgraded its provincial wireless network in 2009, but repeated delays pushed back the release. Until now, the popular smartphone has only been available through Rogers and Telus.
SaskTel’s launch of the iPhone will coincide with that of MTS, Manitoba’s main telecom.
On a three-year contract, a 16 GB phone will cost $159 and a 32 GB model will cost $269. With monthly contracts, they will cost $649 and $749, respectively.
Correction: An earlier version of this article omitted to mention that Telus also sells the iPhone. The article has been updated to reflect this information.
