Due to COVID-19, University of Saskatchewan will continue with the current hybrid approach to course delivery for the Winter Term.

On Sept. 10, U of S President Stoicheff issued a statement announcing that the move “aligns with other post-secondary sector partners in Saskatchewan” and that it is based on consultations with stakeholders as well as the Pandemic Response and Recovery Team (PRT).

“The planned direction provides the programming flexibility needed to manage the potential risks while ensuring the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff,” Stoicheff said.

There will be some exceptions to online instruction, same as in the Fall Term. Stoicheff says that information for specific courses will be communicated to students by their respective colleges in the coming month.

All current university staff that are working remotely will continue to do so to ensure the safety of those that are working on campus, says Stoicheff.

“The safety and well-being of our campus communities is our number one priority, and we will continue to work closely with public health officials as we move through the pandemic,” Stoicheff said.

Stoicheff says that he appreciates the innovation and flexibility with which students, faculty and staff have faced the challenges of online learning. 

“With thoughtfulness, responsiveness and resiliency, we will continue to work with the province to adjust our plans as necessary as we remain focused on delivering our world-class academic programming and research,” Stoicheff said.
