In May 2020, the University of Saskatchewan announced that classes will be mostly delivered online for the Fall Term. Since then, The Sheaf Publishing Society has been planning its best course of action.
Our office will remain closed for the Fall Term to keep our volunteers and staff safe during the pandemic. We will be active through our website, social media and online communications. Although our headquarters are closed, the Sheaf will continue to operate remotely.
The Sheaf will continue to publish important stories that affect USask students. We will be moving our operations online and will not be printing a physical paper for the upcoming term. However, we are planning to offer more services than previous years by incorporating new mediums of journalism, which will be announced at a later date.
The Sheaf will continue to help the undergraduate society by working together with volunteers, new or current, through our existing platforms. Our editors are hard at work, accommodating our current situation and planning ways to ensure experiential learning.
It is our mission to collaborate with volunteers to create a newspaper that is relevant to U of S students. We will continue to stand by this mission as we move forward into the upcoming school year, no matter how uncertain it may be.
As always, I encourage you to take the chance and volunteer for the Sheaf. You can volunteer to write or edit articles, learn photography or graphic design, or be part of our web and outreach team. You do not need experience to volunteer — we welcome all students whether you are in English or in STEM.
It is a privilege to serve our undergraduate student body, and we look forward to working with you this school year.
