Held in the crisp beginning of fall when the leaves begin to change colour and the weather starts to cool, Saskatoon’s annual Tweed Ride is an eccentric and fun-filled event.
Sept. 28 saw the second successful run of the Tweed Ride. Attendees were encouraged to don their best turn-of-the-century ensembles — sporting everything from knee socks to corncob pipes — and join in a group bicycle ride around the downtown core of the city. This dapper event is a great way to celebrate the love of cycling and of course all things tweed.
A free event organized by the group Saskatoon Cycles — which promotes the use of the bike as both a means of transportation and fitness — the Tweed Ride encourages Saskatonians to bring out their bikes and get together for an afternoon of cycling and early 1900s flair.
Participants were sure to look their best as well, as prizes were awarded for most awe inspiring mustache, most distinguished chap, most lovely lady and most magnificent bike.
Cheers to a second successful Tweed Ride and happy cycling!
