This is a beautiful, heartbreaking and poignant album. Dripping with allegory, Solange celebrates her African American identity along with her womanhood — it is powerful and it is pure. Beyond being a musically stellar piece of work, each song is well developed and interesting. Solange is so much more than Beyoncé’s little sister — she is a force to be reckoned with and a voice for change.
