The University of Saskatchewan Huskie cross country teams had strong finishes at the 2012 Stewart Cup in Calgary Oct. 27.
Saskatchewan’s women’s team finished second while the men’s team finished third among university teams at the meet. The hosting Calgary Dinos won the team title on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Second-year Huskie Gabrielle Edwards had the top finish for the Dogs women’s team. Placing eighth in the five-kilometre run. Brittany Elliott and Rachael Edwards finished close behind in 13th and 14th.
On the men’s side, Davis Guenther had the top finish for the Huskies clocking in at 33 minutes and 36 seconds, good enough for eighth place in the men’s 10-kilometre race.
The Stewart Cup was the final warm-up race on the Huskies schedule in 2012 before the Canada West and CIS Championships take place Nov. 10 at Western University in London, Ont.
