A record-setting 9,033 fans flocked to Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon Sept. 21 with blankets and cushions in tow.
Students donning togas for a yearly homecoming game tradition to initiate first-year resident students into campus life kept their spirits high despite cold weather and a 35-26 University of Saskatchewan Huskies loss to the visiting Regina Rams.
The Huskies trailed by two at halftime but let the game slip out of reach in the third quarter as the Rams scored 21 points in the frame.
Rams running back Kolten Solomon lead the way with one running touchdown and two receiving touchdowns while his quarterback Marc Mueller threw for 330 yards and completed 29 of his 37 pass attempts.
Receiver Kit Hillis was the top dog for Saskatchewan, catching three touchdowns of his own. Huskies quarterback Drew Burko started the game but was forced to leave after suffering an injury to his hand. Burko was replaced by backup pivot Chase Bradshaw late in the second quarter.
Burko completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 131 yards and one touchdown before leaving the game while Bradshaw, who also threw 14-for-23, recorded 204 yards in the air, two touchdowns and one interception.
The Huskies, who now sport a 2-2 record and sit one spot behind the 3-1, third-place Rams, will try to regroup Sept. 29 when travel to face the undefeated Calgary Dinos.
