A record-setting 9,033 fans flocked to Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon Sept. 21 with blankets and cushions in tow. Students donning togas for a yearly homecoming game tradition to initiate first-year resident students into campus life kept their spirits high despite cold weather and a 35-26 University of Saskatchewan Huskies loss to the visiting Regina Rams.

Oh, Sloan. I’ve loved their albums since I was a zitty-faced teen and I still love them now, as a 29-year-old scumbag.
I’ve always been more in love with Twice Removed than any other album of theirs, mostly due, at first, to its accessibility. One song after another is pop perfection. Luckily for me, they played that classic album in its entirety at their Sept. 19 show at Louis.

The USSU held a candidates debates yesterday at Louis’ and the Sheaf was there to document the whole event. Every candidate came out with enthusisasm and they each made a solid impression on the packed crowd of rowdy pub-goers. Last Friday the Arts and Science Student Union teamed up with CFCR to put on the Assume Talent Show and Competition (Making an Ass of You and Me). It was a night of singing, dancing and great musical talent across the board, from the performers as well as the drunken judges.

Home-ice advantage didn’t mean a thing for the Huskies men’s hockey team last weekend against the University of Calgary Dinos.
The Dinos not only handed the Dogs their first loss at Rutherford Rink this season with a 3-2 overtime win Friday, Feb. 3, but also held the Huskies scoreless in a 3-0 victory the following night.

The Huskies volleyball teams did not win in their home-opening games Oct. 28 and 29, but they are still optimistic about the upcoming season.
Last season, the men’s and women’s teams finished the year with a combined five wins. But with emerging young players and new coaching, the Dogs look to improve upon last year’s dismal finish.
