Premier Brad Wall presented a $200 million cheque to the Saskatoon Health region Thursday morning.
The cheque came as a surprise announcement at a Health Region event.
The funds are the government’s portion of funding for the construction of a Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan in the city.
The money was promised in the 2008-09 budget, and is now held in trust of the health region as construction plans begin.
“The Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan will serve our province’s sick children, and will be a hub of research, knowledge and learning for professionals dedicated to children’s health,” Wall said in a statement.
