    The University of Saskatchewan Huskies football team lost out of playoffs in the conference semifinal round for the third consecutive year. The squad struggled to get any sort of offensive momentum in the road game, and as a result lost 31-9 against Regina Rams in a snowy Mosaic Stadium Nov. 2.

  • Soccer: Huskies knocked out on penalty kicks

    The Regina Cougars and Saskatchewan Huskies women’s soccer teams finished the 12-game regular season only one point apart. The teams played each other in a quarter-final playoff game Oct. 28 and were almost evenly matched once again. Requiring overtime and eventually a shootout before the Regina Cougars were declared the winners of the 2-1 game.

  • Athletes reach out to students about steroids

    The Ontario Trillium Foundation awarded a $150,000 grant to the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport on Oct. 1. The money will be used to develop a project highlighting the risks of taking performance enhancing drugs (PED) and presenting it to Kitchener-Waterloo high schools.

    The University of Saskatchewan men’s soccer team are still alive in the 2012 Canada West playoff hunt after a heavy snowstorm postponed the game Nov. 1. The Dogs defeated the Victoria Vikes 2-0 at Foote Field on Nov. 2.

    The Huskies football squad finished their regular season with an explosive offensive charge fueled by the return of quarterback Drew Burko. The Dogs made light work of the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, winning 52-24 in Griffiths Stadium Oct. 26.

    Costumes filled the crowd in the Saville Community Sport Centre in Edmonton Oct. 26 and 27 to watch the No. 3 ranked University of Alberta Pandas volleyball team open the season against the women’s Huskies squad.
