On Sept. 14, the USC held their first meeting of the year in the Roy Romanow Student Council Chamber. All undergraduate students are welcome to these meetings. For the majority of the meeting, the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union executives updated the council on what they have been working on over the summer. Here are the highlights.

David D’Eon, USSU president:
– Creating a survey for students to comment on the performance of the USSU.
– Continuing conversations on Indigenization and internationalization on campus.
– Working on a tuition-consultation policy to present to university deans.
– Spearheading the Saskatchewan Student Coalition movement.

Deena Kapacila, vice-president operations and finance:
– Crafting an alcohol policy for the university.
– Completing a student-group survival guide.
– Working on the campus-club database.

Jessica Quan, vice-president academic affairs:
– Promoting the open-textbook initiative.
– Jump starting co-curricular records.
– Working on academic advocacy and streamlining the academic-grievance process.

Crystal Lau, vice-president student affairs:
– Sitting on provost advisory committee on sexual and gender issues.
– Crafting policy for pregnant and breastfeeding students.
– Expanding free-menstrual-products campaign.
– Moving forward with plans for Rink in the Bowl project.
