The Huskies men’s volleyball team were officially eliminated from Canada West playoff contention Saturday, Feb. 4 as they fell to the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat.
Saskatchewan, who sported a 1-13 record and whose post-season hopes were all but destroyed only three weeks ago, recently put together a three-game winning streak to move up in the standings. They grabbed two wins against Thompson Rivers University on Jan. 27 and 28, respectively, and added another on Feb. 3 against the Heat.
Unfortunately for the Dogs, that streak ended on Saturday as the Heat downed the Huskies 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 18-25, 18-16) and pushed playoffs out of their reach.
The Huskies will finish the season Feb. 10 and 11 in Winnipeg against the University of Manitoba Bisons.
Saskatchewan’s women’s team will also finish their season that weekend against the Bisons. They currently sport a 0-18 record and are also out of playoff contention.
