Saskatoon has the perfect local events this October that offer a breather during your hectic semester
As we’re getting into the busiest part of the semester, it is crucial to set aside time for leisure activities. There are many activities or events that are happening in Saskatoon this month.
Free Flow Dance Theatre: Fantastical Flora
The glow show Fantastical Flora will be showcased from October 10th to the 13th at 9 p.m. each day. It features a variety of plants and flowers expressed majestically through dances and glowing pieces performed by the Free Flow Dance Theatre Inc. It is recommended to dress warmly since it is an outdoor event taking place at the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan site in the evening. Ticket prices range from $10 to $35, so it is advisable to check out the website to see which one suits your preferences.
Berry Barn: Haunted House
If you’re in the mood to be spooked instead of dazzled, The Haunted House is being organized by Berry Barn. The barn is located at 830 Valley Road, which is about seven miles south of Saskatoon. The Haunted House will be set up in their greenhouse. Admission is $5 per person on a first-come, first-served basis and cash is the only accepted form of payment. It will be opening on October 11th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., which is the same for Fridays and October 30th. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can check it out any time from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., which is the same for October 31st.

For a show where silence may not even be a concept, check out the Vampire Circus at 8 p.m. on October 22nd. This 90-minute night show features all kinds of gymnastics, theatre and dance. The show’s goal is to take the audience into a world of vampires as if they are in the world themselves. This event will be taking place at the TCU Place in Saskatoon. For those who are not fans of vampires, you can check out the MRKT – The Harvest Edit. This event showcases lit-up displays and pumpkin sculptures, along with other classic seasonal characters. With musical and special sound effects playing in the background, this outdoor walk-through experience is a must-see event. This is also taking place at Prairieland Park from October 10th to the 31st with the hours and ticket prices varying by date. Age categories are also a factor regarding the different ticket prices.
Finally, A Reminder
I understand that it can be hard to want to spend time outside of the campus environment, especially during midterm season. However, participating in even a few of the events around the city can prevent you from burning out from your academics.
Good luck with your midterms and try to carve out some time for fun this month!
