It is the beginning of April, and you are either a week or two away from your first final. Your classes have been online for more than a year now, and you feel tired. Does that mean you’re burnt out?
See the list below and check off what you have done this week.
Tally up your score and see your results below.
0 to 5: Just vibin’ with it
You are not burnt out yet. You are getting out of bed and doing your homework. You are still able to find a bit of solace by squeezing in a bit of physical activity in your day. Keep going with what you’re doing and get those happy brain hormones!
5 to 10: The twilight zone of burn out
Let’s be honest here. You’re doing a test right now to see if you’re burnt out, which means you are at the cusp of burning out. It is not too late to turn that back, so take a deep breath and close your eyes for a bit before going back to your work.
10 to 15: Take a longer break now
You have three brain cells working and the burnout vibes are too real right now. You’re also probably ignoring messages about your group project because you don’t want to deal with it. You are in the midst of a burnout. Have a break, my friend, and I don’t mean just a KitKat.
15 to 20: You are invincible
At this point, there is no return for you, but somehow you’re making it work. Yes, you’re behind, and yes, you have not started that essay or assignment you’re supposed to finish — and that is okay. You made a plan on how you will get it done though, and that’s already a step to finishing. You are invincible. You got this.
20 to 25: Maybe it’s time to hydrate and walk it off?
You definitely feel burnt out from online school work. You feel overwhelmed because there are too many things on your plate. It’s time to take a break. Put down that pen or pencil, take a deep breath and some water, and walk away from your laptop. Outside you go, walk it off and relax for a little while.
25 to 30: Maxed out
Self-care. Repeat after me, self-care. That is your motto today. You are feeling maximum burnout right now! You absolutely need and deserve a break. If you feel guilty for doing so because you could be studying, take a deep breath and let that go. Until you take a breather, you will not have the energy to finish what you need to finish. It’s been a long year, and you deserve to go outside, or stay inside, and do something for yourself that will relax your mind and give you joy. Now, one more time — self-care. You got this.
