Sept. 25 New York Giants (1–2) at Washington (1–2)
The Washington Redskins are a better team with Kirk Cousins at quarterback. They now get the weak New York Giants at home, who are coming off their first victory of the season. An inferior Giants secondary versus a hot Cousins, seems to be a mismatch.
Take: Washington
Sept. 28 Carolina (2–1) at Baltimore (2–1)
Kicker Justin Tucker was the hero for Baltimore last week as he booted the game winning field goal with no time left on the clock. Coming off a bad loss in primetime to a team they should have beat, the Panthers are looking for a bounce back game.
Take: Carolina
Sept. 28 Green Bay (1–2) at Chicago (2–1)
I’m not sure what’s wrong with Green Bay, but their offence just isn’t clicking on all cylinders. They now play division rival Chicago who looks strong, even though they are battling injuries at many key positions. For some reason, a hunch says to take the Packers.
Take: Green Bay
Sept. 28 Buffalo (2–1) at Houston (2–1)
Both squads are coming off of their first loss of the season and are looking to get back in the win column. Buffalo’s E.J. Manuel and Houston’s Ryan Fitzpatrick are both quarterbacks who are looking to prove themselves. Houston’s defence is better than the Bills.
Take: Houston
Sept. 28 Tennessee (1–2) at Indianapolis (1–2)
Indianapolis looked more like the team we know last week as they dismantled Jacksonville 44–17. Tennessee’s defence has struggled at times this year and that doesn’t bode well for them as Indy’s offence is scary good. Take: Indianapolis
Sept. 28 Detroit (2–1) at New York Jets (1–2)
The Lions defence is a lot better than many people are giving credit for. Their run defence is top five in the league and that is going to be big against a run heavy Jets team. Quarterback Geno Smith threw two key interceptions last week that ultimately cost the Jets a win. Detroit’s offence should be able to expose the young Jets defence.
Take: Detroit
Sept. 28 Miami (1–2) at Oakland (0–3)
After an impressive start, the Miami Dolphins have dropped two straight. The loss of running back Knowshon Moreno appears to be having a big impact as their offence hasn’t looked the same since he went down. As usual, Oakland is bad but this could be a good time for them to get their first win.
Take: Oakland
Sept. 28 Tampa Bay (0–3) at Pittsburgh (2–1)
Last week’s 56–14 loss to Atlanta had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looking downright awful. After a big win over Carolina, the Pittsburgh Steelers seem to have found their rhythm. With the Steelers being at home, this one could be ugly again for the Bucs.
Take: Pittsburgh
Sept. 28 Jacksonville (0–3) at San Diego (2–1)
It just doesn’t get any easier for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they now get the San Diego Chargers, led by quarterback Philip Rivers. The Jags have been outscored 85–24 over the past two games and don’t expect them to look any better this week.
Take: San Diego
Sept. 28 Philadelphia (3–0) at San Francisco (1–2)
Quarterback Nick Foles has guided the Eagles to a perfect start so far. He has spread the wealth around nicely, not allowing defences to key in on just one receiver. The San Francisco 49ers are off to a disappointing start. At home though this is a solid matchup for them to get back in the win column.
Take: San Francisco
Sept. 28 Atlanta (2–1) at Minnesota (1–2)
Rookie Teddy Bridgewater has been named the week four starter for the Minnesota Vikings. With a team struggling with off field issues, hopefully he will inject some energy into them. The Atlanta Falcons hammered Tampa Bay and the team looked better than it has in a long time. Matt Ryan looks poised and on a mission to take the Falcons to the playoffs.
Take: Atlanta
Sept. 28 New Orleans (1–2) at Dallas (2–1)
The New Orleans Saints finally notched their first win of the season and now get the ‘cardiac’ Cowboys who erased a 21-point deficit last week to win. Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan used to coach with Dallas and he should know their offence well.
Take: New Orleans
Sept. 29 New England (2–1) at Kansas City (1–2)
The Monday nighter in week four features the powerful Patriots and the woeful Chiefs. Running back Knile Davis has been excellent in replacement of Jamaal Charles and that could be a scary two-headed attack if they can incorporate him into the offence when Charles is healthy. The Pats offence and defence is just more talented than the Chiefs.
