Progress on Place Riel renovations look promising. Hoarding in Lower Place Riel is down, the Mac’s convenience store is now open and a final agreement with Harvey’s to fill the final open tenancy is pending.

The major concern for upper levels of the Place Riel Building is the addition of fire-rated windows in the Murray Building facing Place. Over the break, first fittings of the fire separation windows were completed, thanks to an agreement with the department of art and art history to allow workers in the studios. Over February break, the specialized fire windows should be installed.

“We are negotiating time to get the windows into the open concourse and second floor for the end of February,” said USSU general manager Caroline Cottrell.
