The University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union’s Trick-or-Eat has been a part of Halloween on campus for many years now, but there’s a new Halloween food bank collection team on the block.
The Saskatoon branch of Halloweeen for Hunger is in its second year. Working with Trick-or-Eat, each group is taking different areas of the city to maximize the ability of both groups to gather non-perishable food items. Halloween for Hunger focuses mainly in the north end of the city.
“We’re really new,” said organizer Erica Morrill. “We have 80 volunteers but we’re still looking for more.”
Halloween for Hunger is an initiative of Free the Children, “the world’s largest network of children helping children through education,” says Morrill.
