The University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union’s Trick-or-Eat has been a part of Halloween on campus for many years now, but there’s a new Halloween food bank collection team on the block.

The Saskatoon branch of Halloweeen for Hunger is in its second year. Working with Trick-or-Eat, each group is taking different areas of the city to maximize the ability of both groups to gather non-perishable food items. Halloween for Hunger focuses mainly in the north end of the city.

“We’re really new,” said organizer Erica Morrill. “We have 80 volunteers but we’re still looking for more.”

Halloween for Hunger is an initiative of Free the Children, “the world’s largest network of children helping children through education,” says Morrill.
