Council saw no business, new or old, this week.
Every week, to make meetings relevant even without having any immediate goals to fulfill, council features guest speakers.
This week, four speakers came in to explain some pretty irrelevant things.
First, Colin Tennant and Brian Bilokreli from the facilities management division explained the planning process on campus, with a focus on how initial proposals for projects that may or may not ever happen are processed.
For the second week in a row, a speaker described what the Gordon Oakes-Redbear Centre will look like and be used for if it ever comes to fruition. This time George Lafond did the talking.
The Wilson Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence extended an invitation to the presidents of the various student councils to a networking pitch party (with prizes!).
Finally, Alice Ndayishimiye from the Stephen Lewis foundation let council know that their Dare to Remember campaign runs Oct. 19 to Dec. 1.
Radio show gets 24 cents from councillor
The University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union radio show, hosted by vice president Leon Thompson, got its first two donations, from councillors Leejay Schmidt and Alecia Nagy. Schmidt’s contribution was a joking $0.24
The show needs to raise $240 to fulfill its fundraising obligations to CFCR, which are normally fulfilled during the FMPhasis campaign.
Jason Ventnor, the USSU’s marketing and services manager, gave council an update on Place Riel renovations. The project is on budget, but somewhat behind schedule, due to rain and various other issues.
