In 2008, the Canadian government officially recognized the Ukrainian famine, also known as Holodomor, and designated the fourth Saturday of every November as Ukrainian Famine and Genocide Memorial Day.
On Oct. 19, the University of Saskatchewan hosted a travel abroad fair outside of the Neatby-Timlin Theatre on the second floor of the Arts Building.
On Oct. 5, 2016, the Saskatoon Open Door Society hosted its biannual WE Connect Job Fair, an event which works to provide job opportunities for immigrants and refugees, at Mount Royal Collegiate with over 1,500 attendees, including students.
The transit system has had a busy year of transformations. After the lockout in 2014, Saskatoon Transit has worked towards improving routes and rider experience for customers.
