Two University of Saskatchewan Huskies have made the Canadian Football League’s top ten list of 2012 draft prospects.
6-5, 295 pound offensive lineman Ben Heenan is predicted to go first amongst all Canadian Interuniversity Sport players, while 6-0, 200 pound defensive back Bryce McCall is expected to go eighth overall.
According to CFL.ca, Heenan “is viewed as one of the most athletic interior linemen in the 2012 draft class” and has scouts drooling over his “man-strength” and smooth movements. Heenan was a CIS first-team all-Canadian last year and is hoping to continue that success this year with the Huskies.
McCall, also a CIS first-team all-Canadian, is praised by scouts for his physical play but will need to “improve upon his speed and coverage skills” to make it as a pro.
The CFL’s current list of prospects comes well before the 2012 draft — which is scheduled for next spring — and the list is expected to change throughout the year.
