The University of Saskatchewan bus mall was a flurry of activity on Oct. 5 when two buses collided around 3:30 p.m.
Buses were waiting for passengers on the side of the mall furthest from Place Riel when a bus pulled away from the curb, striking a passing bus.
Both buses suffered damage but Angie Larson, Saskatoon Transit Services business manager, said the accident wasn’t too serious.
“For the amount of miles they put on those buses (accidents) don’t happen too frequently,” she said. “Why it isn’t that serious is because there were no injuries. Buses can be repaired.”
The incident is still under investigation, so Larson had no information about the cost of damages.
Bob Ferguson, director of Campus Safety, suggested the incident shouldn’t worry any students taking the bus on a regular basis.
“Two buses hit each other, that’s about it,” he said. “As far as I know, this is the only (bus accident) that’s ever happened on campus.”
Campus Safety provided the Saskatoon police with a video from the bus mall. Ferguson said it’s up to the police to determine if the driver will be charged.
